JAMES MEREDITH AND INTEGRATION OF OLE MISS
A young African American by the name of James Meredith was denied admission to the University of Mississippi. Because of the injustice, he filed a lawsuit against Ole Miss with the help of the NAACP. After a vicious legal battle, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in his favor, and James Meredith became the first African American to integrate into the University of Mississippi.
JACKIE ROBINSON INTEGRATIONS: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in American baseball by becoming the first African American baseball player. He who was an exceptionally talented player, who even had the privilege of being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. He eventually became a very outspoken individual towards the civil rights movement, the slow integration of blacks into the major leagues and the racial discrimination.
